In response, Kamstrup collaborated with GLN to build Adept — a smart, mobile-first Water Meter Channel Management System that streamlined task tracking, eliminated manual errors, and laid the foundation for full smart meter adoption.

Months to Develop & Launch The Working Pilot

The Challenge:

Utility providers under Kamstrup’s network relied on manual logging for meter readings and service tasks, often using notebooks in the field. These outdated practices resulted in:
Errors in meter readings and serial numbers
Lost or delayed field data
Resistance to adopting smart meter technology
The team needed a solution to enhance accuracy, improve workflow transparency, and convince clients of the value of digital transformation.

The Solution:

GLN built Adept as a modular, API-integrated system tailored for Kamstrup’s needs. Built from scratch and completed in 6 months for pilot use, the platform features:
Real-time sync with Kamstrup’s smart meters
Offline mode for areas with poor connectivity
GPS tagging and photo capture for field validation
Task reassignment and historical data access
Built using Java/Kotlin (backend), VueJS (web), and Flutter (mobile)
Field workers now receive tasks via mobile, capture updates live on-site, and upload directly — reducing reporting errors and streamlining meter management workflows.
